On a yeast free diet there are a lot of foods you will have to cut out. Any foods that feed yeasts need to be removed from your diet. The first major thing you need to cut from your diet is sugar. Yeasts love sugar. You must cut out all kinds of sugar. This includes white sugar, brown sugar, powdered sugar, and raw sugar. you must also exclude honey, maple syrup, molasses, high fructose corn syrup, and agave nectar.

Besides just cutting out sugar, you also have to cut out very sweet foods. Canned and dried fruits mustn’t be eaten on this diet. You must also avoid very sweet fruit like bananas and oranges.

Simple carbohydrates turn to sugar as soon as they enter your body. That means you should avoid white flour, pasta, and white rice. You can eat complex carbohydrates like grains and starchy vegetables, but you shouldn’t eat them very often.

Yeasty foods must also be avoided on this diet. You should avoid breads made with yeast and other doughy foods like pastries and pizza.

Fermented foods are often contaminated with yeast and must also be avoided. That includes alcohol, vinegar, sauerkraut, pickles, and olives. Most condiments and salad dressings contain vinegar and must be avoided.

Moldy foods are also a no no on this diet. Cheeses, cured and smoked meats and moldy nuts like peanuts can’t be eaten.

    What can you eat?

That list of what you can eat may have seemed quite large, but there are still plenty of foods you can eat.

Vegetables are a great addition to a yeast free diet. It is especially good to eat dark, green, leafy vegetables that will make your body more alkaline. Yeasts prefer acidic environments to alkaline environments. Starchy root vegetables can only be eaten in moderation, but all other vegetables are fine.

Your fruit choices can seem a bit limited, but there are still fruits you can eat. You can have berries of every sort, apples, pears, and fresh apricots.

Protein is necessary for your health. You can get it from beans. You can also eat meat, poultry, fish, and eggs.

There are quite a few grains you can eat on the diet. You can have brown rice, wild rice, millet, quinoa, buckwheat, and barley.

Try snacking on nuts and seeds between meals. The only nuts you should avoid are peanuts and pistachios.

Now that you have a general idea about what you can and can’t eat you can start planning your meals. It’s a good idea to plan what you will eat before you actually start the diet. That way you won’t be as tempted to cheat.
