Eternal Sonata (PS3): Thoughts
Firstly, just in case anyone is looking for this game, I bought it off Play Asia a few weeks back, it’s still in stock the last time I checked. The PS3 version of this game has been discontinued, hence why it took me awhile to find a shop that had it in stock. I didn’t want to buy it off eBay ’cause the price was either too expensive or the shipping was. Anyway it took about 1.5 weeks to arrive, in wrappers and mint condition.
Up to now, I only finished the first chapter of the game, Raindrops. Took me about 3 hours, mainly because I enjoy exploring the towns and talking to every single townie I could find. The battle system is time-based, each player character gets about 5 seconds to attack. I haven’t gotten that many attack variations as of yet, but their light and dark attacks are quite interesting since they change depending on whether your character is in the shadows on not.

The graphics IMO are amazing – especially the detail of the towns and surroundings. I especially love the character design, I mean they are adorable – big eyes, round face, and pretty hair. The cutscenes are quite realistic, and did I mention the bright and soft colors throughout the game? They really add to the overall enjoyment of the game.
One thing I didn’t like about the game was the slowness of each cutscene, I cannot fast forward each dialogue without skipping the scene completely. I sort of wish they added a way to just display the entire piece of text with a press of a button, but the downside to that would result in the skipping of frames in the scene. That’s pretty much my main complaint, otherwise I am enjoying everything else (so far at the very least)!

I haven’t played games in awhile. I’ve only played games on the computer, not on any kind of console. I wished I did, but my parents didn’t want to buy any for me to play on.
From the screenshot you had up there, the graphics looks amazingly cute and good!
I love games with good graphics. And it definitely looks like a good game as well.
Have fun playing it and finishing it!
Ohh awesome you were still able to get your hands on the game. I always hate it when games get discontinued and it’s super difficult to get your hands on them. I don’t buy all games on the day of release, but sometimes I forget about a title and find out it’s very difficult to get my hands on a specific game. I also live in Europe which makes it even more difficult. Ya-iii for webstores
I checked out some footage of Enternal Sonata and the graphics and artwork/style is very lovely indeed. Have fun finishing the game ~
I’ve completed the game, it’s really fun. Though I hate how you can’t fast forward those lessons and info. bits. Apart from that, awesome game.
D’aw, discontinued, what?! Wasn’t so sure about this game, but then I just kept hearing good things about it. Sad to know I’ll have to bust my butt (and the bank) to find it now!
It really does look quite beautiful. Good luck with it!
I had a look on youtube at this game! I love anime, cute style games. That game really does look good. Shame it’s been discontinued else I can get it and play on my boyfriend’s ps3.
Never heard of that game before. I don’t have a PS3 though (and I don’t even know what other consoles it may be available for..?) but it looks really beautiful! Seems like the kindof games I like. Is it anything like Harvest Moon?
